....... A Natural Disaster Management Cell (NDMC) has been established in the Academy under the Central Plan Scheme since 1996. The NDMC conducts various disaster related training programmes with assistance from the Ministry of Home Affairs (National Disaster Management Division), Government of India. The Academy has built up considerable in-house training capability in different aspects of disaster management, preparedness, prevention, administration of relief, reconstruction and redevelopment works. .... .The State Gazetteers Establishment was amalgamated with Gopabandhu Academy of Administration with effect from 1st July, 1999. The expertise of this wing in undertaking research, record keeping, documentation and translation activities has added to the academic strength of the institution. After the merger, the Academy has taken over the responsibility of publishing Orissa District Gazetteers. An ongoing effort is the production of a ready reckoner on the State on the basis of the wealth of information available in the State Gazetteer division. ....... The Gopabandhu Academy of Administration has been in the forefront of capacity building within the state government for implementation of the Right to Information (RTI) Act. At the initial stages, a series of training programmes aimed at bringing about an attitudinal change and development of skills in the officers of the state government for successful implementation of the Act was taken up by the Academy. The DoPT-sponsored and UNDP- assisted project on “Capacity Building for Access to Information" is being implemented in the State through this Academy. Under the project, the academy has taken up preparation of training material, materials for being used in awareness building exercises and a host of other activities. .... The quarterly Bulletin of Gopabandhu Academy of Administration, launched recently, provides a platform for practicing civil servants and policy makers of the State Government as well as others associated with the policy research activities of the Academy to express their ideas and share their experiences.
